Local Hotel Is Ideal For Bright House Field

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Clearwater is the smallest of the three urban centers in the Tampa Bay metro area in Florida. The city is in Pinellas County, and in 2005 it had just over 200,000 residents. The town is close to the major vacation destinations of Tampa Bay and St.Petersburg, and, with many miles of lovely beaches, it is a tourist center in its own right. The Clearwater Threshers are the local baseball team, and they play at Bright House Networks Field.

The Clearwater Threshers play in the West Division of the Florida State League. They are a high-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, and were in fact formerly known as the Clearwater Phillies.

Since quitting the Jack Russell Memorial Stadium in 2004, the Threshers have played their home games at Bright House Field (or Bright House Networks Field). This stadium has seating for 7,000, but can accommodate an additional 1,500 on grass berm seating. Bright House Networks are a local cable company, and they paid 1.7 million dollars over ten years for naming rights to the stadium.

The stadium is the spring training base of the Philadelphia Phillies. It is their third base in the city of Clearwater. The highest attendance at the ground was for a training game between the Phillies and the New York Yankees, which was seen by 10,724 spectators. The record for a Clearwater Threshers match is 9,090. The opposition was provided by Lakeland Flying Tigers.

Clearwater is served by two major airports. Most visitors come via Tampa International Airport (IATA code TPA), but an increasing number use St.Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (IATA code PIE). Tampa is generally favored by scheduled services, while St.Petersburg-Clearwater is a destination for low-cost and chartered airlines, including several based in Canada.

Tourism is important in Clearwater. The city is near to the major vacation centers of Tampa Bay and St.Petersburg, and Clearwater itself has many miles of beautiful beaches. Annual events and festivals in Clearwater include the Imagine International Film Festival, the Fun N Sun Festival, the Hispanic Heritage Festival and the Clearwater Jazz Festival.

The Sunset at Pier 60 event is held every night. It starts two hours before sunset, and ends two hours after sunset. This is attended by many locals and visitors, and is completely free. There are street performers, stalls selling souvenirs, arts and crafts, and live music concerts.

Visitors to Clearwater, FL and baseball fans who are watching the game at Bright House Networks Field may like to consider the Hampton Inn in Clearwater if they need overnight accommodation. The hotel’s amenities include fitness center, outdoor pool, hot tub, a children’s pool and playground, and a putting green.

Students Exploring New Orleans Colleges Should Take A Look At Xavier Louisiana University

Monday, February 21st, 2011

If your family is helping your graduating high school student decide on a college you will probably be making visits to several campuses. If your student is committed to academic excellence and social justice be sure to take a look at Xavier Louisiana University. It’s not far from Tulane, Loyola and UNO and definitely worth a visit.

Xavier grew out of St. Katherine Drexel’s ministry to the children of former slaves. Though historically Black and Catholic, today the University accepts students of all races and religions.

Born in 1858, Katherine Drexel was wealthy and well educated. She was raised with a sense of duty to those less fortunate. When she told the Pope that she wished to donate her fortune to supporting ministry in Black and Native American communities he suggested she go to them herself.

Xavier University is one of the many schools founded by Katherine Drexel. Her heritage lives on here, both in the school’s dedication to the Catholic faith and in its stated purpose to contribute to the promotion of a more just and humane society. Students here are expected to excel academically.

Xavier prepares students to assume roles of leadership and service in the effort to live out the school’s purpose in a global society. A large percentage of the Black pharmacists in America are graduates of Xavier. Xavier places more Black graduates in medical schools than any other college in the country.

Xavier is not a party school. However even though there is no football team there is a full schedule of athletic events that attract fans from miles around. A variety of other events provide excuses for parents and families to visit the campus.

Lagniappe Summer Weekend is a great time for prospective students and their families to visit the campus. For enrolled students it’s Freshman orientation. For the uncommitted or not-yet-accepted it’s a time for meeting students and faculty, taking placement tests and experiencing life in the dorms. Parents have to make their own housing accommodations but that’s easy enough.

Located in the Triangle section of New Orleans, Xavier is close to a number of fine hotels. The Holiday Inn Metairie New Orleans Airport hotel is only about five and a half miles from the Xavier campus. Visitors will enjoy a good night’s rest after a long day of meeting, greeting and sight seeing.

Guests can make use of a State-of-the-Art fitness center and outdoor swimming pool. There are refrigerators, coffee makers and 32″ HD TVs in every room. Complimentary Wi-Fi Internet Access allows guests to check on their plane reservations, catch up on their Email and tell the folks back home what a great time they are having.

Info Regarding The University Of Phoenix Stadium And Where To Stay When Visiting It

Saturday, February 19th, 2011

The University of Phoenix stadium, previously known as the Cardinals Stadium, is a multipurpose use facility that is located in Glendale, Arizona. It is the official home of the state’s professional football team as well as the college level Fiesta Bowl. The complex can accommodate up to seventy two thousand people and features the country’s first fully retractable natural grass playing field. If you find yourself visiting the arena, make sure you choose the right hotel to stay at.

Since its grand opening in mid 2006 the building has been home to a wide variety of things. These include trades, music shows, expos, BCS championships, and SuperBowls. The complex’s top notch retractable roof makes sure that the various events that happen inside it go off regardless of the location’s weather conditions.

Built to hold an insane amount of patrons, the complex is exactly 1.5 million square feet large. Over one hundred and fifty thousand square feet of it is reserved for exhibit space and nearly thirty thousand of it was set aside for special board rooms. And to make sure that all seventy thousand fans have a great view, two high definition score boards were put in at either side of the playing field.

Visually, the Phoenix Stadium is a piece of art. Its exterior was modeled after the desert barrel cactus and constructed out of materials that would be able to withstand Arizona’s arid heat. The interior of the building is filled with alternating panels of vertical glass and metal. The panels were strategically placed around the walls so that patrons would be able to enjoy a glare free view of the desert’s horizon.

Do yourself a big favor during your Glendale stay and book a room at the nearby Holiday Inn. It’s located a few minutes from the beloved stadium and prides itself on being able to provide their guests with the best services and amenities. The five different varieties of available rooms ensure that you’ll be able to find just the one that fits anyone’s needs.

All of the rooms and suites are equipped with twenty seven inch televisions, high speed internet access, and basic cable. Rooms with balconies and whirlpool bathtubs can be requested, as can ones with microwaves and refrigerators. Other amenities such as room service, housekeeping, and an in-room movie rental service are also provided.

As far as other amenities go, the Glendale Holiday Inn provides all of their customers with twenty four seven access to their large gym, company room, and indoor pool. For small fees, patrons can take full advantage of the motel’s dry cleaning services too.

Spend A Day At The Races At Dover International Speedway

Friday, February 11th, 2011

Thousands of race fans heading to Dover International Speedway have already discovered the convenience of booking their stay at the Doubletree Hotel Downtown Wilmington Legal District. Comfortable guest rooms and suites are equipped with all the expected amenities and within an easy one hour drive of the race track, making it the ideal place to stay during race weekends.

The track is one of the most unique on the NASCAR circuit because of its unusual configuration. The dual purpose facility has a race track built for horses completely encircled by the one mile track built for cars. Legendary stock car champion Richard Petty won the first car race sanctioned by NASCAR on a July afternoon in 1969.

Crashed cars are a common site during Dover events and this led to the track being nicknamed the Monster Mile. Only the most skillful of drivers are successful on this tricky track and every race is an exciting experience for the fans in the stands.

Miles the Monster was immortalized in 2008 when speedway officials unveiled the massive Monster Monument located outside Turn 4. With glowing red eyes, the monster towers 46 feet above Victory Plaza and is clearly visible from nearby Route 1. The sight of Miles clutching a full scale race car in his raised hand greets all visitors as they enter the FanZone area. This is where race fans will find more than seven acres to explore with souvenir haulers to browse through, sponsor booths to visit and various interactive attractions.

The property has undergone many changes over the years with the addition of Dover Downs Slots in 1995, the same year the track surface was converted to concrete. By 2001, grandstand expansions saw the seating capacity at 135,000, a number that surpassed any other mid-Atlantic region sports facility.

Lucky race fans saw their viewing experience elevated to the next level in 2004 with the introduction of the Monster Bridge. This glass structure hangs over Turn 3 and offers unobstructed views of the cars as they race by on track far below. The bridge definitely lives up to its hype as the most exciting seat in all of sports.

After the race is over, the Wilmington Doubletree is just a short drive away. Fans can end the day in the lounge with a nightcap or order up room service. With accommodations and amenities to suit the needs of any race fan, the Doubletree is the ideal base for a raceway getaway.

Even so, there are a few locations that are popular among travelers and quite convenient for exploring the city and visiting all the main attractions.

Downtown is an obvious choice, with a choice of over 3000 first-class hotel rooms. Also popular is the location on North Cincinnati along I-275, and another one across the bridge in Covington which is actually in Kentucky. Depending on their budgets and reasons for visiting (business trip, family vacation, sight seeing, etc.) a lot of visitors will be staying in one of these choices.

Those who want a downtown hotel obviously have a lot of choice, from budget to luxury. But many prefer to stay somewhere a bit removed from the all the bedlam and traffic, extra cost and hectic downtown atmosphere. For these guests, there are more affordable hotels in Cincinnati North located in a nice neighborhood that is much more peaceful and suitable for a hotel stay.

Many visitors also try to cut costs by going across the bridge to Covington in Kentucky to find a hotel. It’s just a short drive in to Cincinnati, and it does save money. But it’s not exactly as convenient a location as the aforementioned North, which also saves money and offers easy access not just to the downtown area, but also to all the highways and three airports that serve the area.

With the location settled, the next step would be to drill down to a specific hotel that offers the requisite amenities and facilities. As a rule, travelers will find that Cincinnati OH hotels offer free wi-fi and cable tv with movies in-room. Guests will also be provided with items like a coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, hair dryer, iron & board, etc.

Someone suggest planning a All-Inclusive and Do Not Have a Perceptible clue where to Begin?

Monday, January 17th, 2011

Have you ever booked travel online? Do you wish there was a simpler way or at least just one site that would be able to get you everything you wanted? Well, I think I can help. I am typically the go to person that my friends use when they have questions about travel. But… I am getting tired of searching so many different sites for the best deals.

I literally spent hours on the computer sifting through all the travel webs will normally use. I had to take a break at one point. I was checking my email and a friend of mine had passed on a link to a travel web site. As it turns out, it was the answer I was looking for. Simply, this site encompasses everything to do with travel and the pricing was awesome.

Having spent many hours putting together copious vacations over the years for many of my friends, I find this new experience to be a blessing. It is time to reward yourself. Here are a couple of good rules to keep in mind as you travel and vacation. First, try to stick with one airline. Do this because you will build your frequent flyer miles faster. Use there credit card when buying everyday items. As a disclaimer, make sure you pay off the card monthly. I not saying to go spend what you don’t have. LOL Second, plan ahead, and if you can be flexible on your travel dates, you will save you money because flying on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday in the US will give you more dates to use your frequent flier points.

Oh, and did I tell you about some of the cool perks you can get for free. Like I have been saying, membership has it’s privileges, and that goes here too. It takes a minute to sign up and presto, you in!

When you buy an airline ticket, (I know you will) every ticket comes with free stuff. Free travel insurance, concierge phone service, and no service fees. That’s cool. No other site offers anything like that.

Are you getting the picture about this opportunity. I am trying to pass along a little knowledge. Why not, it might just save you a lot of time and money. Anytime I can do that is a good day. So… go try your luck at it now. I bet you will be a believer like I am. Remember to tell your friends too. Have a great day!

my make trip Need to find cheap cruise lines and don’t have the foggiest clue where to start? Try this. Need to take a cruise and don’t have the foggiest clue where to go? Try this. Distressed trying to book your Villa vacation? Save time and money here.

The Midland Hotel Manchester City – Simply Historical Past Or Really A Decent Lodging?

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

I just chose to stop at The Midland hotel in Manchester, definitely not knowing what to expect, it seemed rather large over the internet, but typically you find yourself disappointed. Nevertheless I could seriously say it was one of the best hotels I’ve ever had the delight of staying in! If you’re seeking hotels in Manchester look absolutely no more: The Midland offers everything. Conveniently located in the heart of the city, this Grade II shown cherish oozes luxurious, comfort and style, and also enjoys a history which leaves many other Manchester hotels out in the cold. During its a hundred years story, The Midland Hotel has welcomed kings, queens, presidents and rock superstars.

In addition, the red-bricked Victoriana that Manchester is famous for is perfectly taken in the architecture of The Midland Hotel. The building’s characteristic style goes on inside, where you will find opulent decoration, rich fabrics as well as shimmering chandeliers.

Among the best items, the French restaurant along with fantastic meals, atmosphere, attentive and also friendly service is one of the best in the world. We had dinner there and it proved to be a totally memorable meal. The service was first rate without having to be outrageous and also the food has been delicious. The ambiance has been wonderful, just a shame, a number of the fellow guests did not really feel the importance to dress properly….We might certainly get back to the Midland. It isn’t really low-priced but worth every penny.

Wе arrived early afternoon, checked in and went in to our own bedroom. The bedroom was large, beautifully furnished, wonderful bed and also the bathroom appeared to be everything you could want. My own bedroom was on the 6th floor and seemed to be fortunate to possess a corner suite with a stunning panoramic view of the city, the bedroom seemed to be of a very good size and very tidy with modern decoration, with a extremely contented bed. I liked the room that much I made a decision to use a bedroom service breakfast which was served hot and at the time I demanded.

Moreover, the staff members, from front desk to bedroom cleanser, all were very pleasant, well intentioned and that I gained a feeling of being a member of a team. The Resident Manager appeared to be genius and extremely informative if a little fluffy. The staff were great and always accessible to help. They even provided us with cutlery to enjoy our Chinese take away inside our room! They would not have been any nicer or more attentive. No query seemed to be far too silly; no information appeared to be too minor to give. I fully recommend a stop at the Midland Hotel Manchester!

Gregor Jefferson visits Britain a lot of times per year and particularly Manchester City, recently he found that he really likes Midland Hotel Manchester far more than any else. Find additional info and see why for your self here: http://midlandhotelmanchester.org.uk
