Visit Cuba On A Small Group Cuba Tours

Monday, September 6th, 2010

If you are like the majority of the people, you do not know very much at all about the small country of Cuba. Recently the United States lifted the travel ban to Cuba for the first time in many years. Now Americans have the opportunity to visit Cuba on a small group Cuba holidays.

These special tours are a great way to see Cuba as it really is. There is free time scheduled for the traveler to see things and go places that they are interested in. There are, also, optional activities at local prices that the tour guide can schedule for those who want to participate.

Many people return from tours disappointed because they didn’t have an opportunity to interact with the local people. They normally only see places that are set up for tourists, and return home knowing very little about the local customs. Small group tours in Cuba is not like that. The tour guides are local Cubans, and most nights will be spent in the home of a Cuban family.

These are not luxury tours, but the transport and accommodations are comfortable and clean. Since the groups are small, you will get to know the other travelers better. The tour guide will accompany you through the entire tour.

An example of a small group tour is the eight day Western Cuba Tour. The group size will be between two and twelve with the average size being seven. The arrival destination is the city of Havana. There are no activities planned for the first day so you can use the time to visit the city on your own.

Days two through six will be spent visiting two other special locations. During that time you can ride horseback, go snorkeling off of one of Cuba’s white sand beaches, look for wildlife, explore caves, hike or go bicycling. These nights will be spent in the home of a Cuban family. Day eight is the same as Day one. There are no planned activities, and you may do whatever you want. You are free to leave at the time you choose.

Small group Cuba tours are relaxing and informal. Be ready to make some lifelong friends during the eight days you spend together. These tours are a unique way to see life in Cuba as it really is.

Oak Patio Furniture

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Oak is one of the best timbers to use for patio garden furniture. It is local to most Western countries and, being a hardwood, can withstand the weather, if treated properly. It is very hard-wearing and, so long as you maintain it, it will give you enjoyment and comfort on your garden patio for decades to come.

Oak is definitely not cheap, but if you bear in mind that it will last for ten to twenty years, whereas plastic and metal may last two to four years, it does not work out a bad deal over the long term and during that period, you will have been sitting on garden furniture that is the bee’s knees in every way.

Just a point of interest here that will give you more range when you are buying your hardwood garden furniture, oak and cherry wood share many of the same characteristics as far as garden patio furniture is concerned.

The patterns of whorls and rings in the timber is truly beautiful, so in order to maintain the stocks of these trees, please make sure that your patio furniture comes from a replenishable source.

Make sure you follow the maker’s recommendations as far as preservation is concerned. This will prolong the life of your hardwood furniture, making sure that you will get extra life – up to twice as much – life out of your hardwood garden furniture.

The manufacturer or craftsman will probably deliver your furniture primed and stained and maybe varnished too. If you get raw timber furniture, the maker is probably leaving your options open. The least you should do is rub an oil into it.

Ask at your decorators’ merchants or timber merchants which is the best. You could also stain it and varnish it. Ask to see examples before you go ahead, but it has to be done at least once a year anyway, so you can change approach when it wears off.

This grade of furniture will be seen often at commercial venues, because it is so hard wearing and long lasting, if correctly looked after. You should let commercial sense guide you and follow suit, if you can afford it. If you cannot afford a full suite of hardwood garden patio furniture all in one go, why not buy one or two pieces of furniture a year?

Once you have your furniture in situ, you can start thinking about accessories. The most common accessories are lighting, power points, mosquito zappers, sun shades and patio heaters. You will perceive that restaurants and pubs with a patio will use patio heaters when the weather gets cooler. They have to do this, otherwise customers would peter out.

You can learn from this for your back garden. Get yourself a patio heater so that you can get pleasure from your garden patio in comfort every month of the year. Add a few extra plants and a few nocturnal blossoming plants. Put in a small pond with a fountain and some fish. Complete the whole picture with a few spotlights pointing at your favourite features and hang up a mosquito trap. This way you will get the most out of your oak or cherry wood garden patio furniture.

Owen Jones, the writer of this piece, writes on many topics, but is currently involved with commercial patio heaters. If you are interested in patio heaters too, please click through to Residential Patio Heaters.

Bondi Beach is Your Ticket to Fun

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Just a short drive outside Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, Australia, you’ll find the vibrant community of Bondi Beach. Pronounced “Bon-die,” with a long I, this beach is a center for surfing and sunbathing all summer long.

Founded back in the middle of the 19th century, as Sydney’s urban center began expanding, the unique name of Bondi Beach derives from an Aboriginal word meaning “waves crashing upon rocks.”

As a getaway from the urban center of Sydney, Bondi’s white sand beaches and alluring coastline are a beautiful option. If you are around during the migratory seasons, you could spot dolphins or even whales off the coast. The rarely seen fairy penguin may even catch your eye.

As a starting point, there is no better place than the Bondi Pavilion. Stop by the Community Center for some visitors information, get ready for your beach day in the showers and changing rooms, or see the outdoor amphitheater.

Down at the beach, take a pleasant walk along the white sand, compare your tan with the locals, or take a dip in the crystal clear waters at the northern beaches. Bondi’s southern beaches have great waves for surfers, though beginner swimmers should be very careful at these spots. Throughout the summer lifeguards patrol the beaches and shark nets are positioned out in the water to keep swimmers safe and sound.

To immerse yourself in local beauty, try one of Bondi’s popular nature walks. From the old Pavilion (ca. 1928), hike up to the cliffs of Bronte. You’ll encounter some of the oldest wonders of nature along the way in Hawkesbury’s sandstone belt, which paleontologists date to 225 million years in the past. Or make your way to Waverley Cemetery after stopping at the old bath houses in Bronte.

For a taste of Bondi’s racy beach culture, check out the southern beaches, where local ordinances are ignored by topless sunbathers on a regular basis. In fact, the beach holds the world record for biggest bikini photo shoot of all time.

Popular local events include the 14-kilometer City to Surf Fun Run which takes participants from downtown Sidney to the sandy coastline of Bondi Beach every August. In September you can enjoy the Festival of the Winds, a kite festival which is fun for the whole family.

When that beach-day hunger strikes, you can dine at small cafes or more elegant restaurants by the water’s edge. Or have a drink in one of the pubs and rub elbows with the friendly locals.

Bondi Beach has been featured as the backdrop for a number of television series, including Breakers and Bondi Rescue, which follows the efforts of the lifeguard patrols.

The eyes of the world were on Bondi Beach during the 2000 Summer Olympics, when it served as the setting for the beach volleyball games.

Visitors looking to spend a night or weeks in Bondi Beach will find accommodations in any price range. Backpacker hostels, small upscale hotels and charming bed-and-breakfasts are all options.

Only a thirty minute drive outside of Sydney, Bondi is reaches by following Oxford Street as it turns into Enfield and then Bondi Road. Due to limited parking, locals suggest public transportation, which leaves constantly from Sydney.

Discover Rhosneigr, Enjoy Fine Anglesey Coastal Walks, Surfing and Sailing

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

When you come over to beautiful Anglesey island you may come across Rhosneigr, a seaside resort on the south west coast. This corner of the island has some fantastic sandy beaches and coastal views, and is popular with surfers and walkers. The general consensus is that this village on the soft, gentle southern coastal strip has seen big changes over recent years. Rhosneigr has most certainly rediscovered its former energy and appeal as a quaint seaside location providing a broad choice of self-catering holiday properties.

So if you visit the island either by road or rail please don’t think that you have to bring absolutely everything with you. It’s likely you will want some idea in advance of what facilities are available locally including places such as restaurants, cafes and shops. Anglesey doesn’t just have the leading supermarket chains available, as you will see when you come to Rhosneigr, there is a good choice of country shops and post offices sell local chocolates, jams and fruits to stamps and diving gear.

A look at the services on offer to you during your stay at Rhosneigr will reassure you that the resort and its beaches are suitable. Firstly, for those coming to the island by road the nearest petrol station is in Gwalchmai village on the old A5 road. To get there take the A4080 back to the A55 expressway, go through Engedi and cross over the dual carriageway to the A5 Junction.

Rail travellers to Anglesey will be pleased to know you can stop at Rhosneigr station, and then it can take a quarter of an hour to reach the village on foot. As you walk along the road to the right is the local golf course and Anglesey Airport with caravan parks on your left. There is a stopping train across the island and it may be best to change at Bangor, unless you want to end up in Holyhead Port.

In the village square you will find the Post Office which is combined with the Spar convenience store, which offers a wide range of provisions, and so now we look at the local cafes, shops and restaurants. Get yourself along to The Bali Hi Chip Shop if you would like to taste some great fish and chips with a local flavour. A short walk away from here on the high street you will find the Bee-Bees caf, a friendly little cafe with light snacks, and some truly remarkable, multi-flavoured local ice creams.

After a day out on the water in your dinghy or surfing just pop along the main street to Sullivan’s Restaurant, where there’s a choice of light meals , teas, coffees and cold drinks. At the back of this restaurant you will find a Launderette which opens 6 days a week between 9 am and 6 pm. If you fancy eating as early as 7 am then just off the main street is Glan Neigr Pub, serving breakfasts and light meals later. So take an early morning jog across the sandy expanses and return for a full English breakfast. If you fancy seafood including fresh lobster get along to Sandy’s Bistro, a fully licensed outlet open all year round, which also offers Welsh beef and fresh local produce. Tafarn Y Morfa, near the village square offers traditional ales and home-made food.

The village has some interesting clothes stores and on the village square, opposite the convenience store you will find Fat Face, selling designer clothes and accessories. Meanwhile near the entrance to the beach is The Funsport Shop, the place to go if you’re keen on learning to windsurf or kite-surf or to get accessories. Now if you are partial to pastries, crepes and savoury galettes, then don’t forget to pay a visit to Mojo’s, the village bakery and creperie, where you can enjoy a continental style breakfast.

This is a short summary of what you can expect to experience during your holiday break at Rhosneigr Anglesey. We hope this article helps you decide to stay at this remarkable coastal resort. And don’t forget you can experience the nearby coastal path any time of the year, and the area has a wide choice of quality self-catering apartments and cottages to chose from.

There is security in being able to see the bottom of the pool. Lake swimming is to enter the wild water and to cross a border. You pass the lake?s edge and you break the surface of the water itself. In doing so, you move from one realm into another: a new realm of freedom, adventure, magic and occasional danger. Watch out for those Turtles and Fish! Swimming in open water is a new experience that’s not to be feared, but embraced. Once you feel comfortable swimming in a lake, the world will open up to you and wherever you see water you will see a new adventure waiting. Swift Nature Camp Summer Camphas over 1500 acres of water right out your cabin front door. Catching frogs is one of favorite things to do at this children’s summer camp. One of the best hunting spots is the lamp poles at night. No exceptions, staff and campers alike. THis is true if on a river canoe trip or on on our own camp lake. Water is so much fun and kids love it but it is dangerous and we must be prepared. Gay Vacations in Cancun, Travel Tips

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

If you are going to Cancun on vacation, you are definitely going to enjoy it. Of course getting ready is important, so take a look at the time and money you have. You have options to cruise there or to fly to the area. Planning on going with a friend? Make sure you come up with limitations and then plan away.

Usually a cruise to Cancun will either leave from Galveston or Miami. Usually the ships are going to leave for Cancun in the evening time. Most of the ships that leave from the western area of the U.S. will end up taking you to Mexican Riviera.

If you’ve decided to fly, you will save money if you book your airfare and hotel at the same time. You can use a travel agent for either a cruise or a plane trip, and make certain the agent spells out for you exactly what is included in the cost of your trip.

Be certain whether your destination is Cancun Playa del Carmen or Cancun Calica. Playa del Carmen is a beach town with tours to ruins and a biosphere reserve, with tropical forests and habitat preserves. Calica features white sand beaches and a lively night life, as well as tours to ancient Mayan ruins or a nature park.

Make sure you buy some sunscreen. Since you will probably spend quite a bit of time in the water, make sure that it is waterproof too.

Before you leave, talk to your cell phone company to find out if there are roaming fees while you are vacationing in Mexico. This will be important knowledge to know if you want to call back to family or your office.

When you take money, make sure it is mostly in travelers checks. Usually people are great to go with American money. However, if you cash in for pesos, make sure you do it at a bank. Ensure you carry the theft info in a different area from the checks in case they do get stolen. It is best to have theft protection on credit cards too. Ensure you don’t tear your pesos and don’t take any that are torn, since they won’t be good anymore.

Tip your hotel staff and the wait service at restaurants and night clubs at ten to fifteen percent.

If you are going to travel by cab, let them know where you are going and come up with an agreed upon price. You don’t have to tip the cab driver.

Walking may be fun, but never go walking by yourself. You also need to keep in mind that pedestrians are not given any right of way, so you must be very careful and watch out for yourself.

Talk to the staff at the hotel you are staying at for some recommendations of areas to check out. If you enjoy gay night life, then check out the night club Karamba.

No matter where you are traveling or how you are getting there, make certain you check about luggage restrictions, including how many pieces you can carry, the size, the weight, and the cost for extra pieces. Also, call the airport or the cruise line a few days before departure to learn about any boarding restrictions on what you can carry with you. The best trips are well planned. You can have fun now organizing your trip, and then while you are actually on vacation you won’t have any surprises to spoil it!

The sun, the sea, the most beautiful beach…and thousands of gay people just for you. What else you can ask? Latin Hot Party is the very first great lesbian event in Cancun dedicated to all GLBT in the world, it is framed by one of the most beautiful beaches and embellished with the authentic Latin flavor.
